Gressinghall trip

Prep 2 and Prep 3 visited Gressinghall workhouse and farm during December. They had great fun learning all about Victorian era and the hard work that was done in the workhouse by the children and adults. Our children took part in various activities during their visit.

Each group was given tasks to perform around the workhouse as if they were in the Victorian times.
Signing the register, folding the laundry, sweeping and dusting the rooms
Laying the table for the governors, Ethan was asked by the curator : "What is this used for?"(holding up a fish knife). Ethan replied : "For fish and chips!". The curator said: "Just drop the chips". Ethan said: " I know-Chicken!"
Each group of children made dollies out of pegs, felt and pipe cleaners, which they then decorated

The children made their own paper chains out of paper. Each chain was about 10 links long. One of the children had a great idea to link all of the small chains together to make one large chain.

We all made candy sticks in the cook's house from sugar dough and peppermint flavouring, rolling, twisting and shaping. Later, we took these back to school.

The children practiced  expressions of drama and later, performed a melodrama in the old Chapel, in front of the other school parties.
